Free Online Game Servers

Well i spoke a bit about the wife's Lore Master character and how weak and really kinda frustrating they are to play especially from level 28 and down so far. She is weak, her pet companions are weak, and she has hardly any combative skills at all, boring, unexciting, lame and frustrating (oh i said that already). Well you get the picture?  I'm also disappointed how you can gain any level and not have some new skill or ability available to you, no matter how small, it would be something. But yesterday I reached level 29 with her and nothing no skills or anything either for her or for her pets or whatever, very disappointing to have voids in the skill gain like that. Anyhow, on to my Hunter character, more on the Lore Master later. OK the Hunter reached level 40 now and I would have to say, compared to the Lore Master character this ones 90% more fun to play BUT still lame and weak in certain situations. Well I've made two characters so far both elves, one male for myself and a female for my wife (she hates levelling). The male character is a hunter class and we'll talk about him in a later article for now, however, I wish to talk about the wife's character...she's an Elven Lore Master. First off one thing I gotta ask is "Gadalf is a Mage right? So is Saruman? Why then is there NO mage class in LotRO? I mean a pure mage not the lore master/rune keeper types? weird. My thinking is you would want to keep it as close to real as possible if your following the novels and create a game around them? no? Anyhow the Lore Master is definitely a "LAME" character type. They (Turbine) call the lore master the crowd control person, well, how can that be when none of the spells make sense and NONE are for area effect? Crowds=AREA :P In my books. Well I decided to try out a free UO server called "In Por Ylem". Or at least I am trying to try them out. You know me I have patience enough to give it a concertize effort to get into the game then I start getting steamed. Well this server claims its like the old UO before too many of the Addons and weird stuff started up. I remember those days better than most, I started playing UO when it went live right after beta. In fact I was established on the Baja shard the day it went up and I played for well over 7 years on it with 3 accounts and 15 characters so, I'm no stranger to UO and all the stuff, political and otherwise that went on in it. I remember a time in UO when it was simpler and more enjoyable but yes even back before all the expansions there were some issues that needed addressing and most were PVP or exploit related. WOW is all i got to say, I haven't tried the PVP server but I made a character (Warlock) on their (like retail) server and its just like retail alright. Beautiful all missions seem to work, there are people around, I found a guild quickly and the peeps are cool. This truly is my new home for WOW at least when I play WOW. It's a 1X server so skills raise at the rate they do on retail. There are some bells and whistles but not many if you vote positively for them in the WOW free server TOP 100, which is OK so long as its not done overboard which this one isn't. Ah like original wow you have a hard time getting around as a newbie since gates are hard to find. But hook up with a guild and other people will get you around the maps. Like I said give this one a shot, you'll like it allot. I'll keep you informed as I play. Oh and they type English and keep a clean server.

I'll keep it short this one's garbage. They give you everything almost an instant 80, gear, you name it but there's nothing to do. Population seems to be foreign (non-English) I always make a character for the wife so she can spend a few minutes on MMO's if she wants and on this server these non-English typers or bad English typers do nothing but chase females around like perverts, totally fail! Since first off they have no clue how to pick up on a woman, wait til ya hit puberty before trying guys! Anyway total boredom and a waste of time. Thumbs down.

This will be the last write up on this one for a bit we will check back later sometime but the log in issues with this game make it too frustrating to waste time on. 20-40 minute log ins are not uncommon and all because your "free to play" or so says the load in screen on occasion. I've seen the number of people becoming equally frustrated with the log in issues and are playing other games as well. Word of advice to Turbine, you can tell people something is free but then invent your own monetary system such as "turbines" for real money and it doesn't still make the game free. You can elate your paying customers but if you disrespect the free ones it may do more damage to your customer base than you think. The choice is up to you "Turbine" one thing at the very least is fix the game loader/log in combo to get everyone in a quickly as possible paying or not or you will have ghost towns in Middle Earth.

Still waiting to log in. I was in earlier today after waiting for around 20 minutes, so far its been at least 30 minutes and counting. Well that's it folks for tonight, I'll get in some WOW before bed at least log ins there are measured in seconds not in dollars. Night all.

Hiya, Still exploring LotRO at this time. Currently the games producers have entered some summer festival content for everyone including us "free to play" people. I have noticed however that the festival tokens are also available as a pay for item in the LotRo Store not sure if that's aimed again at just the "free to play" people or what? Worst thing about this game so far it the frikin log in time. Don't tell me it my PC! I get instant log ins on WOW, PotBS, and Tanks online, definitely not my PC. Turbine needs to stop misleading the public, if your offering the game "free to play" then make it free to play the whole thing including shortening the 20 minute or more log ins. VIPs get in instantly. The rest of us suffer and eventually if it doesn't improve so will my review of LotRO. They are offering a 4 realm pack of quests right now at around the 2000-3000 turbine cost which may sound cheap but if your in game earning the turbines, you ...

Lets talk about LotRO for a moment. If you didn't know this MMO now presents itself along with thousands of other ones under the "free to play" guise. And first I'll talk about the things I like and then I'll mention what I don't like, after all what's a review without both positive and negative critique right? Of course.  LotRO from a Game Artist's perspective (I hold a B.A. Visual Art, Game Art) is wonderful. The art is inspiring for the imagination and strengthens the story of middle earth perfectly. The scenery is beautiful and I often find myself stopping in game on my horse and turning off the UI elements (F12) and taking screen shots (F11) of the scenery. Its like taking a mental vacation at times, very nice. The detail in the city art work is also excellent and I was impressed. In instances (dungeons) the artwork keeps up the same level of detail and the atmosphere makes it all seem like your actually in the pages of the novels. Game play...

Hiya, Been awhile since I last posted and as in most cases it was because of real life issues, some good, some not so good. Anyhow that's not why we're here right? It's because we enjoy playing game online, either FPS, MMO or some other genre of game style but we love to do it with other people in digital environments, that's what counts. In the last year or so a new phenomenon has hit the electronic gaming world. Used to be people would get the code from companies like EA etc to run the client on home based systems and offer free online gaming on privately owned servers. WOW! (pun intended) and UO were now free of that monthly $12-15 charge after the initial $65-95 purchase price that is. Free player run servers offered free play but at a price! Kids aren't stupid they tried to turn a profit on this new deal. They charged you for all the coolest stuff in the game, the flying rides, the cool neon armor that is called "uber god-smack PWN u suit of vanquish...

Well seems they keep shutting down the teleporters from the Lich King , this leave you stranded sometimes or at least taking the long way home. They need to fix these permanent before I blow a fuse. Death Knight update: nothing, they still haven't fixed a lack of rune forge since they made it impossible to go to Ebon Hold . All we care about ids that the regular shit work right? Right! Gonna get a friend to join up with me, see if that makes the game a bit more fun. Missions ALL fixed and working would be a step in the right direction. The PVP is good for the most part, no griefers except the odd res killer but they are pussies anyhow.

GM support or getting help sux on this game server. They do not care what your problem is and DO NOT answer tickets. The chat system doesn't seem to hook in with the /join officer command like it should for this server. Death Knight issue they won't fix: NO rune forges ! Ebon hold is inaccessible.

Well lately the connection has blown to this game server they drop the game servers allot in an effort to improve things but when they do they confuse us by not explaining what they are doing and why. I just made a DK ( Death Knight ) you have to have a character that is at least 55 or higher in order to make a new DK not sure why it is but seems the standard everywhere. Instead of starting at Ebon my DK was created no where near a rune forge so how do I charge up my sword? hmmm. Anyways all the servers are dropping as we speak. Only 2 out of 6 are left up and running while they fiddle around with the others. I like that you can train up skills fast and I love that you can set for a flying mount without having to pay a fortune in real money or game gold. Will continue.

This non USA  WOW server is better than most. While their mastery of English is weak which effects missions and descriptions for their rules and server descriptions it doesn't deter that this is one of the more fun free wow servers I have been on lately. You still have your choice of great gear even if you do not vote or offer donations. But on the other hand this is constantly being waved in your face. Lich King served as a main NPC from which to teleport, bank adjust skills etc until they changed it suddenly, now I'm not sure how to get around and find that begins to annoy me. Hope they fix that one quick or put in gates at all the major burgs. Some of their vendor numbers are a bit ridiculous. There are so many in one location it is hard to find anything or it takes all day to shop. Missions need to be fixed, repaired and grammatical corrected then it needs to be left alone. Has 8 realms ! unfortunately all pvp . Translation into English is not very good and is misleading in missions etc. Assume this game server must be run by Japanese players. In starting the wow server they pelt you with gold, 80 level, and a bunch of weird teleporters and mall areas. This server focus's on trying to maintain the number one rating on the top 100 free wow servers by constantly urging players to vote for them, also offering rewards for doing so. IMO they should concentrate on delivering excellent game play before trying to gain a rep as number one? Anyhow, they have a ridiculous timeout. It seems if you stand still for more than 3 minutes your out if the game, so logging in is something you should not mind doing if you play this wow server. For those of us non die hard pvpers there isn't much to do here other than play around on various flying mounts they give you all of them at start. Well I finally packed it in on this free wow server. IMO not fun enough, to many gankers and just a touch boring. But performance wise was the big issue, lots of lag and tons of disconnections. The delays logging in were ridiculous at least 20 minutes most times. I join to play not to wait, so I quit, next!

Apparently they can't make up their mind and its very confusing to get an account set up. I did a search for top 100 free wow Servers and they were on the list so I signed up, here's my on going review. WOWsex or whatever is made up of 4 servers 2 pvp and 2 quest . First free wow  server I have found that actually had a non-gank quest server and 2 of them at that. On the PVP side it business as usual gankers and griefers still abound. Lots of perks like super gold, fast level, free stuff to hook ya but that gets old fast so I went to their wow quest servers claiming to be 100% retail wow like in nature. I don't know if I agree with that on the whole but it is more like it. Missions are a pain in the ass as directions or mission markers do not appear on mini map, even using map addons. So finding every place to go is laborious. Gain is slow and gold is even slower. Dying on the two quest servers is a pain in the ass because it requires GM tickets, the spirit healers...

Well not sure if its my connection or their wow server speed (I'm on cable with COX) but the connection in game is jumpy and a bit laggy. I won't blame Molten though until I've verified my modem speeds and cables. The wait period to log-in due to server restrictions on their part is still ridiculous. They either need to add more allowed accounts per game server or maybe expand and add a new server or two, or just up that number some. Other than that I been having fun. No griefers yet, got ganked once with my newbie character. Was the typical I'm fighting a mob and my health slips then the ganker hops in and finishes me off before the mob could. Ahhh well such is digital life eh? Mission work fantastic. I haven't hit one yet that I remember that hasn't worked and they are still the best way to raise up exp on a newbie. Stay tuned I'll add more about this free wow server as I come across stuff.

A new update about UO WOW the first free online wow server I tried, it seems that it is closing down as of 05/2010. Apparently, the game server admin did not get rich as he had hoped by trying to elicit funds through every means possible in the game and he has given up. Not to worry folks there are lots more out there and I will find the best ones and weed out the shitty ones. Oh and a word of wisdom or two to people hoping to get rich with free wow servers. There's retail out there now which cost $15 to play each month and they do not make you pay extra for the goodies, usually. Then there's YOU the supposedly free game server. Why not practice what ya preach and stay free for ALL of it? People will pay Retail for a stable wow server where quests ALL work, gear is attainable by anyone and PVP and PVE are balanced and optional. So why would they donated $15 bucks a month or more for upgrades and stuff from you? Doesn't make sense even an idiot would agre...

Only three game servers with a limited number of players allowed on each so there is an irritating "wait" to play, sometimes of a hour or more. Unless you switch  wow servers. Added 5/16/2010: The wait period really sucks on this one, almost enough for me to pack it in already go somewhere else. I've been 373 in queue for approximately 35 min now. The admin needs to add more to the numbers allowed on each wow server or update their equipment to handle it if they want to be rated as good. Most of us don't want to create characters on different wow servers its too tedious. Missions are intact for the most part nothing seems not to work there. In game graphics are a bit amateurish especially where some seams do not line up or the type of texture used is inappropriate for the type of structure. People seem friendly on my game server at least, haven't checked out the other ones yet...
